My Kids: Piper, Paityn, Paige, Pierson, and Pilot
Cory Klaker
5-12 Instrumental Music 7-12 Grade Vocal Music
I have been in education for 16 years and am thrilled to be a part of the South Gray Rebel Family. I have had the absolute privilege to teach music in both Southwest Kansas and in South Central Kansas.
I am an active member of the Kansas Music Educators Association and love to travel around the state as an adjudicator for music festivals and help clinic with other music groups both band and choir. I was honored to receive the Southwest Kansas KMEA Outstanding Music Teacher of the Year in 2019.
I have taught elementary general music, junior high and high school vocal, concert band, pep band, marching band, jazz band and drum line.
I love to play trumpet and drums, but mostly I love to play the bassoon. I was a bassoonist all the way through college. I enjoyed being a member of the Winfield Regional Symphony, the Arkansas City Community Band, and the Winfield Municipal Band.
I received my Bachelor's Degree from Wichita State University and I am currently finishing my Masters of Science Degree in Building Leadership from Baker University.
I have five beautiful children: Piper, Paityn, Paige, Pierson, and Pilot. We also have our dog of over 10 years, Ringo.
When I am not directing music groups or attending all of my children's activities, you can find me fishing somewhere!
Philosophy of Education
All Students should be given the opportunity to learn and create in a safe and constructive environment and to their absolute best potential.
