Hello!

My name is Mrs. Hedlund, and I am in my 11th year in public education. I serve as the Reading Intervention Specialist for Montezuma USD 371. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from McPherson College and a Master of Science in Reading Specialist from Fort Hays State University. In 2020, I completed Alphabetic Phonics Training through the Phillips Fundamental Learning Center and have since employed this systematic, multi-sensory approach as my primary intervention strategy. Additionally, I have recently received my Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) certification.

In my role as a reading specialist, I have the distinct privilege of collaborating with both educators and students across various settings. My commitment is to advocate for students with reading differences and to enhance reading instruction, particularly in the domain of early intervention.

I am a small town Western Kansas girl. My husband is my best friend and I love being Mama to my sweet lively boys. My passion for teaching was inspired by my mother, a dedicated elementary school teacher for 36 years, whose lifelong commitment to learning continues to motivate me. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading and baking.
