SGJH: From a door decorating contest to a hot chocolate bar to a gift exchange, the junior high was filled with the Christmas Spirit this week!!
The Senior class is planning to do a silent auction and benefit dinner January 14th and 15th. All proceeds will go to Madi Schaffer who just experienced the loss of both her parents due to covid. We are looking for donations for the silent action; whether it be an item to put in the auction or cash to purchase an item. If you are willing to donate or know anyone who would like to donate, please contact myself, Attison Clark, @ 620-682-0955, Sandra Teichroeb @ 620-518-2098, or our Principal Kim Batman @ 620-335-0007. Thank you!

The 4th and 5th grades finished their final science projects this afternoon. Each student chose an inventor to research and create an ugly Christmas sweater for. The sweaters feature some of their most famous work, quotes, and awards. The colors on their inventors sweaters also have a unique meaning. They also wrote a paper over their findings and gave an oral report to their classmates. The sweaters and reports will be on display in the commons area until the end of January for you to look at!
Reposting for Mr. Zehr to include push notification:

Copeland continues to be without power. I have been in contact with Victory Electric and they will be unable to begin restoring power until the wind decreases. They have trucks throughout Copeland but I have been advised that power will probably not be restored until late this evening. In addition the Highway Patrol is working two accidents on HWY 56 between Montezuma and Copeland and the highway will be closed for a estimated long period of time. Therefore I will be cancelling the Christmas concert for this evening. I will meet with administration and teachers tomorrow to discuss a plan to have the Christmas concert before break. Thank you for understanding. Please share.
Students: let me know if you would like an application for this scholarship! It is due December 31st!
A decision regarding the status of the elementary Christmas concert will be made around 3:30 this afternoon.
SGHS students and teachers: I caught Mr. Applegate after the game and discussed the finals schedule for Thursday and Friday. Here it is!
Teachers and high school students: I will meet with Mr. Applegate tomorrow morning about how we will handle finals. Please check back after 10:00!
Due to the forecast of winds constant at 50-60 mph and gusting in excess of 70 mph, I feel it is in the best interest for student safety to cancel school for tomorrow. Visibility due to the dry conditions and the possibility of the loss of power are a concern as well. We transport a large number of students on our routes and shuttles between districts. At this time the forecast is for the winds to decrease late in the afternoon. Therefore the elementary Christmas concert is still on pending weather conditions. A final decision for the concert will be made tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for understanding. Please share.
