South Gray Junior High Student Council met today and elected officers: Ali Beery -President, Brooklyn Good- Vice President, Katie Schellenberg- Secretary, Damien Herrada- Treasurer. Mrs. Carrie Koehn is StuCo sponsor this year. Congratulations to these student leaders!
SGHS Lady Rebels Volleyball will compete Pratt Skyline tomorrow. Their first games will be at 9 & 10. The schedule for the rest of the day will depend on the outcome of those games. Their bus will leave from the school at 6:45am.
Mrs. Soto's Junior High Art students worked hard on designing and building their own cars in class. They then had the fun opportunity to race them today!!!
Our middle school runnin rebels performed very well at Meade. For the majority of them, this was their first meet. With the following factors; first meet competition, a hilly course, and hot and windy day, our students performed great.
The distance that the Jr. High students covered was 1 mile.
In the boys category, out of 73 runners the following is their corresponding placing:
Kelby 5th place. He earned a medal and produced a time of 6:27
Amari (first time competing) placed 51st and produced a time of 8:10
Jayden placed 66th and produced a time of 10:11. He has run on this course before, and in comparison to last year's time, he made a great improvement.
This was the first meet for all of the three girls. There were 42 competitors in that race.
Haylen placed 6th overall, and in the registration system, her grade level was listed wrong, but she would've technically earned a 2nd place medal in the 7th grade category. Her time was 7:41.
Payten placed 25th and produced a time of 9:16
Victoria placed 27th and produced a time of 9:26
Overall, we were very pleased with their performances, especially given their newness to the sport. As coaches, we are pleased with their willing to come out and put forth great effort in early morning practices. The benefits of that hard work and discipline will be seen within time. We look forward to our home meet on the 9th of September, and invite/encourage the community to come out and watch these hard working student/athletes in action.
